Scripture is at the centre of everything the Church does; the Word of God shapes our prayer and worship. The Bible shows us how to understand the world, how we are called to live and relate to each other. (Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales)

During 2020, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales have declared it to be ‘The Year of the Word’, a year to particularly focus on the Scriptures. At Mass, our readings are mostly from St Matthew’s Gospel, and so our Lenten talks this year are based around the theme of St. Matthew’s Gospel.  We hope you find them of interest.
