The Sacrament of Baptism

“And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptised and wash your sins away, calling on his name.”

Acts 22:16

Through Baptism, we become cherished Children of God.   Baptism wipes away all our sin and infuses us with the divine life. For that reason, all of us enter the Church through Baptism.

If you are thinking of having your baby or child baptised at St Marie’s this is arranged directly with Father Chris or other members of the clergy.

There will be an opportunity for parents to gain a better understanding of the sacrament of baptism. Under normal circumstances, Baptism Preparation Programmes take place every 3 months, and they are usually announced for three weekends in the parish Newsletter / Bulletin. The Baptism Programme consists of two meetings, each lasting 1.5 hours, and includes a practical element.

If you are an adult wishing to be baptised please take a look at our ‘Journey in Faith’ programme.

Due to the current Corona Virus pandemic, if you are thinking of arranging a Baptism, please bear in mind the need to defer such celebrations until people can gather in numbers safely.

Please contact Cathedral House via email to express your interest in either programme:
